Job Summary:
Eastern Washington University is currently seeking an Assistant Track & Field Coach (Throws). This position is housed in the athletic department and will report to the Director of Track and Field and ultimately the Athletics Director or sport supervisor. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Coach to work closely with the Director to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of a Big Sky, NCAA Division I assigned sport program. Several components of this job include, recruiting, camp coordination and public appearances. This position provides educational, monitoring, and supervisory components as well as working within a shared facility.
This person will work closely with the Physical Education department, equipment staff, sports medicine staff, classified staff, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success and Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance. Will also work collaboratively with relevant constituent groups. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Coach to study and know all policies and procedures integral to university, Big Sky and NCAA rules compliance. Will assist in the direction, develop and management of all aspects of the assigned sport program including but not limited to; recruiting, talent evaluation, conducting training, teaching and development of student athletes within the team concept, scheduling, budget management, supervision of additional staff and monitoring academic progress of the team.

The salary for this position is $52,276.00. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- One (1) year of track and field coaching experience.
- Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the first 60 days of employment.
- Additionally, candidates must offer a demonstrated high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Collegiate coaching experience in throws.
- Three (3) years or more of collegiate track and field coaching experience.
- Collegiate recruiting experience at the NCAA level.
- Collegiate track and field experience as a student-athlete.

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in the administration, planning and organization of appropriate pre-season, in-season, and post-season programs, including practice planning & scheduling.
Facilitate the learning and teaching of proper skill execution and safety techniques.

Work with Athletics Business Department for any team and travel needs in addition to equipment needs. Manage travel arrangements. Ensure all travel advances are submitted in a timely fashion.

Know NCAA and Big Sky Conference rules as they apply to coaching teams and individuals – both in and out of season. Work with Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance to keep current records of all student-athletes to monitor their academic progress on a quarterly basis.
