Job Summary:

The salary for this position is $113,516 – $158,923. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Seven (7) years of full-time, professional experience in financial statement preparation and accounting management including fund accounting.
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, presentation, and strong writing skills.
• Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
• Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with computer applications (such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Proven track record of successfully working with donors and boards, and a strong understanding of board regulations and reporting.
• Experience in successful relationship building with colleagues, volunteers and board members, and in board governance in a non-profit accounting environment.
• Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public

• Experience working in higher education or non-profit organization
• CPA certification

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities
% of Time 35 Responsibility / Duty• Ensure finance and operations controls and policies are established and observed, and effective follow up processes are in place.
• Ensure EWU Foundation is in compliance with all federal, state, local and internal policies and relevant regulations and filings are completed in a timely manner.
• Manage and monitor all methods of receiving, controlling, and receipting items of value on behalf of the Foundation including checks, cash, securities, credit cards, on-line charges, gift-inkinds.
• Manage and monitor Gift Processing, including pledge entry and receipt generation.
• Ensure appropriate review and timely payment of accounts payables.
• Manage ongoing banking relationships for maximum efficiency.
• Develop cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast.
• Assist and lead EWU Foundation Investment Committee with endowment portfolio performance and facilitate communications between asset management firm and the committee.
• Responsible for all financial reporting for the Foundation.
• Lead Finance and Audit Committee meetings and provide financial presentations, Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financials for the Foundation with accompanying analysis of results.
• Prepare campaign and fundraising reports for the EWU Foundation.
Maintain up-to-date account balance information for all Foundation accounts.
• Prepare annual unrestricted operating budget for the Foundation.
• Prepare the financial section of the Foundation annual report and other reports as needed.
• Coordinate and oversee the Foundation’s external audit, review and analyze results, and present to the Finance & Audit Committee for acceptance and approval.
• Prepare all annual and quarterly tax filings such as 1099s, W2Gs, Excise Taxes, Gambling, etc.
• Coordinate preparation of Form 990 Tax Returns for the Foundation and the Alumni Association.
• Manage and track endowment funds including distributions and donor communications.
• Assist Director-colleagues with preparing annual operating budgets for all units within University Advancement.
• Develop regular reporting and analysis, including key metrics reports, and conduct ad hoc financial and cost analysis as required.
• Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet current and future business models.
While research and prospect management activities are in this reporting line, the primary purpose of these functions is to serve fundraising priorities and strategies. This position manages researchers and collaborates with the AVP of Philanthropy (or equivalent) to ensure appropriate oversight and allocation of resources for:
• Prospect management and use of Salesforce, Research Point, iWave and other software to support it.
• Priorities for prospect research ensuring proactive data research, collection and entry into database and files.
• Provision of written and verbal reports to Development, EWU Foundation Board, and other staff to further fundraising activities.
While research and prospect management activities are in this reporting line, the primary purpose of these functions Is to serve fundraising priorities and strategies. • Interface with software consultants/contractors on areas of regular maintenance, report development, and software upgrades as needed.
• Ensure Advancement Services personnel provide external and internal partners with timely, adequate and accurate financial, prospect, and information system data.
• Ensure timely distribution of quarterly fund balance reports to colleges, departments, and programs across the university.
• Cultivate a culture of support and service for other Advancement units and external parties.
• Act as a primary staff resource to the volunteer Foundation Board Committees: Finance and Audit and Investment
• Special projects as assigned by a supervisor and/or the Vice President of University Advancement

Annual Security Report Notification
The Annual Safety and Fire Report is provided in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act of 1998 and the associated amendments including the recently adopted Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013.
