Job Summary:
Set-up and prepare reagents, materials, equipment and manage chemical waste disposal for both upper and lower division physics and chemistry labs
Assist faculty with preparation of reagents and equipment for physics and chemistry demonstrations
Support and assist students in physics and chemistry laboratories
Implement laboratory policies and procedures as required
Conduct and support safety orientations for students and student employees
Inspect and monitor safety equipment
Monitor the proper disposal of chemical waste and support its disposal
Maintain chemical inventory, tracking systems and stockroom organization
Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment
Advise faculty on student challenges encountered in laboratory settings
Respond to laboratory emergencies
Recommend improvements to laboratory procedures and operations
Prepare and maintain reports related to laboratory operations

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences or
An equivalent combination of training, formal education and/or research training or service laboratory operations experience
Flexibility in meeting student and faculty needs
Preferred Qualifications:

Annual Security Report Notification
The Annual Safety and Fire Report is provided in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act of 1998 and the associated amendments including the recently adopted Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013.
