Job Summary:
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science invites applications for a 100% special faculty/lecturer position in the Arts program housed within the Fine and Performing Arts Department to begin mid-September 2026.
The lecturer’s primary focus will be teaching courses in Studio Art for the Art Program. This is a multidisciplinary position; candidates must be able to teach in two areas of studio art along with topics in visual culture and art appreciation.
Studio Art courses include both upper and lower division courses in areas such as 2D (drawing/painting/printmaking) and Digital/Time-Based Media. Topics courses range depending on candidates’ expertise but will focus on career connected learning within visual art.
Priority will be given to candidates with experience teaching art at the college level for 3+ years.
The typical workload for this position will involve teaching 45 credits per academic year, subject to department needs. The position also requires the faculty member to participate in BFA faculty reviews and program meetings. The candidate is not required to serve on committees unless this work is identified and approved as part of the workload by Department Chair and College Dean.
Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and maintain health and safety protocols in assigned classrooms.

The salary for this position is $59,535. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Conditions of Employment:
The required start date for this position is September 16, 2026. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than mid-September 2026.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. Required Qualifications:
- M.F.A. in Studio Art, or related field.
- Record of success teaching lower and upper division studio art classes at the college-level in area of digital art and traditional 2D art (painting or drawing or illustration).
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who offer one or more of the following preferred qualifications:
- Record of professional exhibitions and active studio practice.
- Ability to teach lecture-based courses in art history and art appreciation.
- Record of success teaching at the college level for 3+ years.
- Experience with Health & Safety protocols for art classrooms.
- Experience with art studio management or art lab technician.

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities
100% of Time:
- Teach courses in visual culture in at least one of these topics: Art Appreciation and Art History Surveys (ancient to contemporary)
- Teach studio art courses in at least two areas of 2D Studio: illustration, drawing, or painting (foundation to advanced)
- Teach courses in Digital Art: all levels (foundation to advanced)
- Additional courses to be considered based on the expertise of the candidate.
- Mentor art majors in BFA program
- Manage/oversee studio classrooms (health & safety)
- Participate in student based professional activities such as the annual Creative Works Symposium on campus.
- Meet all scheduled classes
- Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales.
- Schedule and attend office hours.
- Attend art program meetings.
- Maintain regular and professional communication with colleagues.
- Turn in grades according to established deadlines.
