Job Summary:
The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a Computer Engineering (CpE) Lecturer faculty position within the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) to begin January 2027. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to teach at an instructionally intensive undergraduate focused institution. The exceptional candidate will have demonstrated capacity to teach CpE or electrical engineering coursework at a freshman and sophomore level and be able to teach other coursework as assigned according to the needs of the department and the expertise of the candidate hired into the position, possibly including supervision of Capstone Projects.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with relevant industrial experience, with an embedded systems design emphasis. Candidates are expected to possess excellent communication skills and those with prior teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply. Primary areas of responsibility include teaching and developing undergraduate courses in ECE. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in curriculum development, work collaboratively across disciplines and engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning for ABET accreditation.
We are seeking broadly trained candidates who will be inspirational teachers, role models, and mentors who complement the strengths of our faculty to engage in instructionally intensive undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates must show a high degree of interest in human and cultural diversity with a demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach to teaching and scholarship that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

The annual salary for this $77.397, but salary will be prorated based on quarters served.

Required Qualifications:
- Masters' degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or broadly related field;
- Strong interest in teaching freshman level ECE courses, digital logic with lab and Introduction to EE and Embedded Systems with lab;
- Strong interest in developing relationships with students from underrepresented groups and attracting them to ECE;
- Excellent communication skills to meet the needs of our diverse student body;
- Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College teaching experience;
- Relevant industrial experience;
- 1-year teaching experience in an online environment;
- Experience teaching Digital Logic, and/or Embedded Systems courses.

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities
Teaching Typical workload for this position will involve 45 credits per academic year, subject to department needs; Teaching also includes the following additional related responsibilities
- Meet all scheduled classes;
- Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
- Schedule and attend office hours
- Turn in grades according to established deadlines
- Advise students who are declared majors on department, college and University requirements and career opportunities;
- Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.
